Everyone makes mistakes (including us), it happens. Especially with Paint Protection Film (aka Clear Bra, PPF), where it highly skilled trade and requires a high level of concentration and attention to details. No one’s perfect or always score 100%. It’s how we respond to these situation which keeps us at SPL different from the rest.
This initial PPF job was done at a different shop here in Vancouver. To be honest, this job is not terrible and not the worst we’ve seen which we didn’t and won’t post. All of these minor boo-boos could have been avoided and fixed.
We’re not sure how much this client paid for this PPF job (could be cheaper or more expensive than us), or if a post installation check up was ever done (which is included in our PPF service). Some of these areas could have been avoided with the correct installation techniques such as laying the film down without tension or correct squeegeeing methods; but it seems like the failing areas were forced down. Also, the areas in discussion could have been caught at the quality check stage or even repaired before at the post install inspection before it was too late.
We were told from the client the lifting film and failing areas were like that upon pick up and the installer simply told them “that’s the way it is”, which to us at Speed Projects Laboratory (SPL), will not meet our standards and would had definitely not gone out our shop doors.
At SPL, your Paint Protection Film experts in Richmond and Vancouver, when it comes to PPF installs, we are constantly finding a balance between longevity, what’s aesthetically pleasing, and what the material’s limitations are. There is a specific reason for the way we do our installs and since 2017 with countless vehicle serviced, we are still continuously improving over the years, receiving nothing but positive feedback and happy clients. We stand behind our workmanship, service provided, and quality of products; there is a high level of standard we upkeep and meet at SPL.
